Having a personal coach really optimises your time on the bike with a busy schedule, by being able to trust a program without second guessing the training. This gives you peace of mind that every session you do is improving your performance.
The benefit of having a coach that can be your friend and mentor simultaneously makes all the difference. Being able to chat about personal changes in your life that affect your training, helps to optimise your training to the best it can be. Renay ticks this box perfectly
Moving over to Renay’s training programme enabled me to follow my dreams in achieving my goals. Studying full time meant that I needed a structured and well thought out programme to fit my needs. Since then I’ve managed to win my first Namibian Elite national road racing title as well as qualify to represent Namibia at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. For me it has been the best investment into my cycling to join Renay’s coaching programme.
I wanted to improve my riding in a significant way and needed a structured and scientific approach in order to do so. Renay was the perfect person to help me. His talent and experience as a pro rider as well his wealth of knowledge about coaching helped me achieve my goal : a sub 6 Attakwas. He was genuinely interested in my progress and guided me every step of the way. The memory over going over the finish line in Groot Brak is something that will stay with me for a longtime.
Renay was my coach for 6 months to help me train for the Bike Transalp race. Renay took the time to adjust the training programme to my needs and lifestyle requirements so I could fit it all in. I also felt Renay regularly went the extra mile with regular check ins on phone, WhatsApp, email and Strava (there was no place to hide!)— which I found really motivating. Renay also helped me with nutritional advice and information on race riding conditions which I found super helpful. In the end, I completed the Transalp easily, something which I would have never dreamed of doing the previous year… and it was all down to training.” – Matthew Buckland, 44, Internet entrepreneur
Renay has been a great influence on my racing. I have known him for years and recently got coached by him, after which I noticed massive improvements in performance, paving the way to results such as a top 10 at USA Collegiate Nationals. He brings his wealth of experience and knowledge from racing world cups and applies it to his coaching which I find very helpful and insightful.
Working with Renay has taught me more in life than just how to ride a bike faster. He’s taught me the discipline of being a sportsman and having integrity, something I’ve been able to carry over from my training and racing into my every day life off the bike as well. Since we started working together, my power and endurance increased dramatically, and with his guidance and coaching my fitness went to a level I was only dreaming of before. Renay is also a coach who really cares for his athletes on a personal level as well. He’s always checking in to find out how a training block is and how the athletes social life is going and making adjustments immediately if needed to keep an athlete healthy physically, but also mentally. Making sure an athlete never looses the fire and love of the sport. With Renay’s guidance I’ve been able to reach a lot of my goals, but most importantly stay hungry and motivated to keep raising the bar higher as we go.
Renay gave me an 8 week (which turned out to be 6 week) training program for Sani2Sea. I came off an average base but nowhere near Sani ready. The affect of following a guided program for 6 weeks was unbelievable, I far exceeded my targets at Sani (with a lot help from my son Colin and a Lot of help from Renay) Renay has now built a W2W training program for me and although it looks daunting I am keen to see the results. Thanks Renay!
